Decorating with Textured Paint
Do you have ancient wallpaper or damaged sheet rock staring back at you? Erase those ugly blemishes by adding texture to your walls. Whether you do-it-yourself or hire a professional paint contractor, turn those wall imperfections to your decorative advantage. You can create a new look, rich in texture, and solve an eyesore at the same time. Just make sure you follow a few simple steps, using the appropriate paint applicator when you applying textured paint.
One hundred years ago wallpaper was a grand decorating element; but not so much anymore, having been replaced by borders and murals. If you have grown tired of those dull, flat floral patterned walls, now is the perfect time to make over your space with a fresh coat of color. In fact, while you are at it, why not consider using a textured solution for enhancing your walls. A roll-on decorative texture contains a composite material that mixes with any paint to create a rich sense of texture within color for a decorative wall finish.
Paint textures can be used to create a unique accent wall in which flawed or subtle imperfections can easily be hidden. It is ideal for covering seams when painting over paneling or hiding the vertical lines of old stubborn wallpaper. This method also offers a distinctive alternative to the common knockdown texture process. Applying this product to painted ceilings can produce dramatic style, reflective lighting effects and add depth to create visual and tactile interest for your entire room.
Available in a variety of fine, medium and course grain aggregates, as well as various interwoven fibers, this product mixes easily with any paint and dries to a greater level of durability once the surface has fully cured. Since there is a definite technique to applying texture to walls, look to your local paint contractor to achieve a random consistency without looking uniform.
Experienced painters, like McCauley Painting, guarantee the quality of their work and perform it to your complete satisfaction.
REMOVAL:
Be aware that removing textured paint is not difficult, although it is usually very messy. Should you decide to change the look later, remember to simply combine a wallpaper remover like DIF by Zinsser (containing reactive enzymes) with 1 cup of white vinegar, 2 cups of liquid fabric softener with 1 gallon of water. Pour into a clean spray bottle. Working from the bottom up, saturate an area and let the solution stand for 5 minutes or longer. Gently scrape texture using a plastic broad knife to avoid damaging the base surface. Wipe the walls clean using the remaining remover and then rinse area with 1 cup of white vinegar diluted in 1 gallon of water. Allow the surface to dry thoroughly, and finally apply a quality primer sealer before painting again.
The risk of falling from ladders, even small portable step ladders is a reality that can lead to paint spillage, or cause injuries ranging from sprains to broken bones to death. Safe positioning each time a ladder is relocated is essential to preventing you from losing your balance while getting on or off a ladder. Professional painters use ladders daily and develop understated skills in the use of these potentially hazardous tools of the trade.
