Sherwin-Williams® E-Barrier™
Developed by Sherwin-Williams®, E-Barrier™ Reflective Coating helps reduce utility bills for South Carolina homeowners and commercial buildings.
When applied to uncoated attic roof decking or to previously painted commercial decking, microscopic metal particles in E-Barrier Reflective Coating help maximize energy efficiency. Energy savings will vary depending on building materials, home location and conditions.
- In summer, E-Barrier™ reflects radiant energy from the sun
- In winter, E-Barrier™ prevents radiant energy from escaping
- Reduces heating and cooling costs by 15%
- Breathable coating, won't trap moisture
- Fast, one-coat coverage with minimal overspray
Keeps Your SC Home More Comfortable

Radiant Reflection
E-Barrier™, a new radiant barrier coating from Sherwin-Williams®, offers an alternative to foil-backed radiant barrier substrates. Containing microscopic reflective metal particles, E-Barrier™ is spray-applied to the underside of uncoated attic roof decks to reduce heating and cooling costs by up to 15 percent, according to the manufacturer and independent laboratory testing. E-Barrier™ achieves coverage in a single coat without dripping or running, produces no waste material, has little odor, and will not delaminate in moist environments.
During hot weather in South Carolina, E-Barrier™ reflects radiant heat away from the attic space and the living space below, and in colder weather it reflects interior radiant heat back into the home before it escapes through the attic roof. The Energy Star-qualified coating has an emissivity rating of .32, meaning it reflects 68 percent of radiant solar heat that passes through the roof. E-Barrier™ is breathable, and will not trap moisture in the structure.
As professional Paint Contractors, McCauley Painting is highly trained and equiped to apply E-Barrier™ to effectively reduce South Carolina homeowners heating and cooling utility costs by 15% annually.
